COSMETIC TATTOOING

What does it look like?

A lot like a pencil. The more hairs you have on your eyebrows the more natural it looks. Eyelines can be thick or thin depending on your desired look. Lips can be filled in or just defined depending on your preference. Color is chosen on your consultation and the technician will guide you through it all from start to finish. Remember, nothing is begun until you are completely happy with stenciling.

Does it hurt?

Whilst Permanent Make-Up can be uncomfortable, a numbing agent is used in the area being treated prior to the procedure. Once the initial puncture is made, an anesthetic is then used. The anesthetic and numbing agent work very effectively to alleviate any discomfort. Every person has a different pain threshold, and yes, it can hurt one person more than the other but the overall results far outweigh the short discomfort. Some clients choose to take a pain reliever prior to the procedure. In the case of a lip treatment, a local anesthetic can be administered by a Dentist prior to procedure where you will not feel a thing.

Permanent Make-Up has truly become an art form. In the hands of an experienced practitioner, the cosmetic enhancement offered to clients, is aesthetically pleasing and very natural looking. Of course, if a client seeks a more “dramatic and bold finish”, they too can be accommodated. The finish is dependent on needle size, grouping, pigment choice and techniques used.

Who is it suited for?
• Women who seek convenience.

• Women who want to look good without the effort.

• Women who have little time to apply make-up.
• Women with sparse or very little brows.
• Women who are vision impaired.
• Women who draw their brows in everyday.
• Women who don’t know how to apply make-up.

What is Cosmetic Tattooing?

Cosmetic Tattooing, also known as Permanent Make-Up, is the insertion of colored pigment into the dermis by puncturing the skin. Permanent Make-Up is a process requiring at least two treatments to achieve the desired result. The longevity of the implant varies from client to client. Many factors come into play in determining the longevity – the client’s skin type, age and lifestyle as well as the pigment and technique used in the procedure. On average, Permanent Make-Up will last for 3 to 5 years. Maintenance is required and clients are advised to return to the salon for retouch treatments every 12 to 18 months.

Permanent Makeup Procedure
How is it done?

Prior to your procedure, a guideline is drawn with a pencil as a guide. Each client will work with the technician to achieve the look, shape and thickness they want. Once the client is happy with the look, shape and size, permanent pigments can then be applied. No procedure will commence until the client is 100% satisfied with the guide. Remember,“ what you see is what you get” so the guide is very important to get right.

What are Pigments?

Pigments are usually made up of iron oxides, a safe non-reactive substance which minimize risk of color migration and allergic reaction. Rewetting agents are also used and are comprised of glycerine, distilled or sterile water and alcohol. These pigments are specifically manufactured for implantation into the skin. Most of the pigments are inorganic excluding some lip colors which are organic.
